Recycling Compliance Form

All businesses and multi-family properties are required by State law to separate recyclables from their garbage for recycling. This compliance form must be filled out and approved by the City to receive a physical space waiver or an alternative service verification.

Approved physical space waivers or alternative service verifications will be subject to an on-site inspection.

Approved physical space waivers and alternative service verifications may be revoked at any time. Revocation may be due to:

• An inspection that demonstrates the business site has space for a recycling container.
• An inspection that demonstrates alternative services requirements are not being met and/or there is no supporting documentation.
• An inspection that demonstrates the business site misrepresented information in the form.
• Changes to local or state regulations regarding recycling.

A Physical Space Waiver may be issued if your business site lacks adequate space for a recycling container. Supporting documents are required as evidence that your business does not have space for a 90-gallon cart, one of the smallest carts available. 90-gallon carts are approximately 27" wide x 36" deep x 45" high.

Alternative recycling services include:

Third-Party Recycler
Your business contracts with a licensed recycler, who is not a franchised hauler, who collects and properly recycles your recyclable material. Required: Upload to this form and retain on-site for verification during inspection: All contracts between the business and each alternative service recycler.

Self-Haul
You take your recyclables to a local recycling facility yourself. Required: Upload to this form and retain on-site for verification during inspection: Recent transactions receipts showing recyclables being recycled.

Backhaul (Not Available for Multi-Family Properties)
Your business hauls its recyclables back to a central or corporate location to be collected for recycling. Required: Upload to this form and retain on-site for verification during inspection: Contracts or other proof of evidence.

Shared Container
Your recyclables are placed in another business's recycling container to be recycled. Required: Upload to this form and retain on-site for verification during inspection: Evidence that all parties agree to sharing the container and a copy of the recycling collection services contract.
