Residential Leak Repair Assistance Program

Thank you for your interest in the City of Sacramento’s Leak Repair Assistance Program. The Department of Utilities (DOU) Leak Repair Assistance Sacramento Program is designed to provide financial reimbursement for customers who repair their leaks.

To be eligible:

  1. Be a City of Sacramento DOU Water customer.  

  1. Tenants or homeowners of residential single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes. 

  1. Tenants may apply, but the homeowner must complete a Landlord Permission and Waiver of Damages Form.  

  1. There must be evidence of previous leak, i.e. continuous and/or irregular water usage. Track your property’s water use using the MyWater Customer Web Portal.  

  1. Repair must be completed by a licensed (C-36) plumbing contractor. We recommend getting multiple quotes and checking references when looking for a contracted plumber.

  1. Repair receipts must be submitted within 30 days of repair.  

  1. By the time of application, the leak issue has been fully resolved/repaired. Track your property’s water use using the MyWater Customer Web Portal

  1. The program shall not apply to water used for new landscape irrigation, filling of a pool, or other intentional use. Funds will not be applied to cover water loss or utility bill expenses.  

  1. The Leak Repair Assistance Program shall not apply to just water efficiency upgrades with no evidence of a leak.  

  1. This is based on limited funding is limited and available on first-come-first-served basis.

Under this program, reimbursement may be applied to the following:  

  • Repair Toilets 
  • Repair/Replace Kitchen Faucets 
  • Repair/Replace Lavatory Faucets 
  • Repair/Replace Hot Water Heater 
  • Repair Supply Line 
  • Repair a Leak in Wall 
  • Repair/Reroute Slab or Home Exterior Leak 
  • Repair Irrigation System/Supply Line/Valves/Valves Assembly

I understand that, as a Leak Repair Assistance Program customer, I am seeking repair completed by a licensed C-36 plumber.

I understand that this is a limited, first-come, first served program, and that I am eligible for one repair reimbursement, and they are only given for projects which have applications that are approved; the City may deny any application that does not meet program requirements.

Program Agreement – Release of Liability  

The City of Sacramento Department of Utilities (DOU) may deny any application that does not meet all of the Program requirements, which are set forth in the Program Terms and Conditions. The City reserves the right to alter the Program Terms and Conditions at any time, with no notice other than posting the Program requirements on the City website. The City does not warrant or guarantee that the applicant will experience lower water bills as a result of participating in the Program. The City is not responsible for any damage that may occur to participant’s property as a result of the Program. The applicant agrees to indemnify the City, and its directors, officers, and employees, and to hold each of them harmless from and against all loss, damage, expense and liability resulting from or otherwise relating to his or her participation in the Program.
